Dr. James J. Teague III
Dr. Jack Teague is an Asheville native and is currently in his 25th year of practice. He attended Erwin High School, NC State University, and the University of NC at Chapel Hill School of Dentistry. He and his wife Beth have three children, ages 21, 17, and 14.
After serving for many years on the Board of Trustees, Dr. Teague served as President of the North Carolina Dental Society in 2013. He has represented North Carolina at the American Dental Association’s House of Delegates for several years. He is a fellow of the International College of Dentists, where fellowship is extended by invitation only in recognition of an individual’s “outstanding professional achievement, meritorious service, and dedication to the continued progress of dentistry for the benefit of humankind.”
Dr. Teague is actively involved at the UNC School of Dentistry and is currently serving as the President of the UNC Dental Alumni Association. Dr. Teague has served on many non-profit boards in Asheville since returning in 1991, including the United Way’s Tocqueville Leadership Council, the AB Tech Foundation, the Eblen Foundation, and Child Abuse Prevention Services. Dr. Teague chaired the committee that directed Asheville’s first ever “Mission of Mercy” dental clinic on August 13th and 14th, 2010, that served almost 900 hundred patients in one weekend and provided over $400,000 of dental services free of charge to our areas underserved population.

Dr. Gene Holland
Doctor Holland was reared in Glenwood, NC, a small community in McDowell County just a few miles east of Asheville. He received the AA degree from Brevard College (1962), BS from UNC (1965), DDS from UNC (1968) and the MS from U. of Michigan (1972). Immediately upon completion of the DDS degree he joined the faculty in the UNC School of Dentistry where he served until his retirement in 1997 at the rank of Professor. During his tenure in the School of Dentistry Dr. Holland served in several administrative positions, including Co-director of the Prosthodontics Residency Program and Interim Chair (2 ½ years) of the Department of Fixed Prosthodontics.
Following his retirement from the School of Dentistry Dr. Holland opened and maintained a private practice of Prosthodontics in Fayetteville, NC. In 2011 he closed the practice and moved to Flat Rock to enjoy “retirement” in our beautiful NC mountains. He “came out of retirement” in early 2012 and joined Dr. Teague’s practice on a limited basis. He and Jane live in the Kenmure Country Club community of Flat Rock where he continues to pursue “retirement”.
Doctor Holland has held membership in several professional dental organizations and maintains active membership in the American Dental Association and the NC Dental Society. From 2007 to 2011 he served the NC Dental Society as a member of its Board of Trustees and as its Chair in 2011. He also chaired the Dental Society’s Council on Constitution and Bylaws/Ethics and Jurisprudence for several years.
Second to his family Dr. Holland’s special interests are primarily sports related, particularly baseball and fishing, but currently includes attempting to re-learn the challenging game of bridge.
