In 1972 Asheville-Buncombe Technical College inaugurated its dental program of which I was a member of the first dental assisting class. I am a native of Asheville, NC. I attended the Asheville City schools, Western Carolina University and Central Piedmont Community College. I graduated from Central Piedmont Community College in 1970 with a degree in dental hygiene. A career in dental hygiene was suggested to me by my dentist when I was in the 9th grade. Having never considered another profession, I have been a registered dental hygienist for 45 years in the same practice. My life’s work has been most rewarding and my professional goal has been to help educate patients about the importance of maintaining optimal dental health. Also gratifying is getting to know the patients over the years and forming lasting ties. The natural beauty of Asheville and the surrounding areas fit my love of the outdoors.
